Soror Melissa I. Walton - Jones, is a graduate of a Historically Black College, Rust College, in Holly Springs, Mississippi.  She attended on a full academic scholarship and was inducted into Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society, named an Arthur Ashe Athletic Scholar, and  recognized in Who's Who  Among American  Colleges and  Universities.  She is an alumnus, former section leader, and soloist of the World  Renowned  Rust College A'cappella Choir and was active in other  sports, social, and civic organizations such as Student  Government  Association and Students in Free Enterprise. She was an active athlete, former state track champion in hurdles for the state of Mississippi, a cheerleader and member of the basketball team. It was on the campus of Rust College in the Spring of 2000 that she joined the best sorority in  the  world,  Zeta  Phi  Beta  Sorority,  Incorporated,   Iota  Gamma  Chapter.  She  is a  daughter  of  the Unconquerable South Central Region, and has been a member of the sorority for 21 years, as of March 30th.



Melissa has held numerous leadership positions as an undergraduate including, Phylacter, 1st Anti-Basileus, and Basileus, as well as Undergraduate Member at Large for the State of Mississippi. She has served on every level of the organization as a Graduate Member in numerous elected and appointed positions, including but not limited, including local Chapter Basileus, State Phylacter, Regional Auditor, Regional Musician, Regional Budget & Finance Committee Chair, National Communications Team, National Membership Committee, and other National Ad-hoc Committees as assigned, including the Historic Centennial Commission, having served as Tournament Director for the Inaugural Blue & White Golf Tournament in Orlando, FL in conjunction with the 2016 International Grand Boule'. She is also active with other civic, service, and social organizations in the community such as Junior League, Jack and Jill, Incorporated, Top Ladies of Distinction, NAACP, Finance Executive Networking Group, and LPGA Women Who Play, to name a few. Melissa is a former member of the Board of Directors for The Kansas City Boys' Choir and was named Who's Who in Black Kansas City in 2014. She currently serves as an appointed member of the Internal Audit Committee for the City of Cincinnati.



Over the years, Melissa has developed various start-up companies and has owned a successful, regional award-winning, wedding and event planning company and her own small financial services firm. Soror Walton - Jones is senior executive for a tri-state metropolitan planning organization, managing awarded funds of more than $50M. Serving for-profit and nonprofit corporations as a career professional over the last 20+ years, she is currently responsible for accounting, financial planning and analysis, annual budgeting, financial reporting, and overall business administration and serves as a member of senior leadership providing counsel to the CEO. She obtained an MBA from the University of Missouri, with an International Finance Residency in China, Administrative Residency in Washington, DC, and Innovation Residency in Kansas City, MO; Melissa has twenty-two years of demonstrated leadership experience, business acumen, and operational excellence in not- for- and for profit global administrations and operations.



Melissa's Zeta residence is in the  Magnificent Midwestern Region, where she is a charter member of the Outstanding Omega Iota Zeta Chapter in Kansas City, Missouri, having been elected as the chapter's first Basileus, a position she held for two consecutive terms. The chapter had many notable accomplishments under her leadership. The chapter membership continues to grow and flourish as a result of the sustainable practices Melissa put in place. Their chapter motto remains: "Expand to Serve with Excellence in Everything!"

Melissa is a licensed minister to preach and deliver the gospel of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.   She is married to Lester "Chip" Jones, also a Mississippi native, licensed minister, and her partner in life.  They are parents to  two children, son, Darion, daughter,  Dawsonne,  an active Amicette, and their fur baby, Lola.  Melissa's hobbies include serving others, singing, dancing, leisurely reading, journaling, and golfing.

Her life's mission is based on Exodus 9:16. “But I have raised you up for this very purpose that I might show you power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” A woman of many talents, Melissa is an anointed songstress, gifted composer, and a deeply affectionate worshiper after the heart of God. She is an extraordinary leader, administrator, faithful, and faith-filled servant in the community and through our beloved sorority, Zeta Phi Beta.

She is a FINER Woman.
